World Cup 2010 Future Odds Update |
Brazil, along with Spain, has the best odds to win the World Cup next summer. Even though Brazil is stacked and currently the 2nd ranked team in the world they are in the Group of Death in the World Cup, as they have to make it of a group with Portugal, Ivory Coast, and North Korea, who may be the strongest team from Asia. Brazil has never lost a match in Africa and they are used to hot and humid weather that will be in South Africa next summer.
Spain has a great team with many world-class players, especially young striker Fernando Torres, and they were drawn into a World Cup group that is not very strong along with Honduras, Chile, and Switzerland. Spain finally got the “can’t win the big one monkey off their backs with the win in the 2008 European Championships.
England has not played well in the last few World Cups, but they have a solid squad with Wayne Rooney, Terry Cole, Steven Gerrard, and Frank Lampard. They are not in the toughest group with USA, Slovenia, and Angola, who are only ranked 94th in the world. It would be a shock if England did not make it out of the group.

Argentina did not look great in WC qualifying, but they have a great squad, especially with Lionel Messi, but they are not in an easy group with Nigeria and Greece, who are both ranked in the top 15 in the world.
Germany was lucky to get drawn into one of the weaker groups along with Ghana, Australia, and Serbia. Germany looked good in qualifying and they have an experienced squad led by Michael Ballack and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Italy is the defending champion and still has one of the best GK’s in the world in
Gianluigi Buffon. Lucky for Italy they drew one of the weaker World Cup groups along with Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay, and Slovakia. Italy will try to repeat as World Cup champions for the second time (1934 and 1938 champions).
Holland looked awesome in World Cup qualifying and they have one of the best offenses in the world. Can their defense play well enough for them to win? That is the big question.
France was lucky to make it in the World Cup after an obvious non-call in the last qualifying match and they were lucky in the draw getting South Africa as the top-tier team in the pool since they are the host. However, the other two teams in the group solid in Mexico and Uruguay.
Portugal may be a good dark horse, as even though they barely qualified they had to do it without their best player in Cristiano Ronaldo. They will have him back and, hopefully, 100% and they did make the semifinals in the last World Cup.

World Cup soccer odds – World Cup 2010 futures
Qualifying is well underway and there have been some upsets, yet the usual suspects top the World Cup 2010 future odds lists across the world.
Brazil owns the shortest odds at 5/1, while South American neighbor Argentina sits at 11/2. Spain, the defending European champions, share the top slot with Brazil at 5/1.
Defending champion Italy, which had been a longshot entering the 2006 World Cup, currently sit at 11/1 odds. The team they defeated in the penalty shoot in Germany (France) is now 18/1.

Some fans and bettors ask the question: why would I bet the World Cup now, well in advance of the tournament field being set and without seeing the injury situations and form at that time? The answer is that singling out a longshot now can pay out far better than when the action begins.
Remember Euro 2004 when Greece entered the tournament as 500/1 underdog? Remember how the odds kept falling as they pulled upset after upset? Remember the global shock when the Greeks paraded the European championship trophy around the field?
For example, the Greeks are currently 100/1 while the powerful Dutch are 18/1.
Not all soccer future wagers are good ones and you should limit these bets. However, placing a few strategic future bets can pad your bankroll. Check out the latest World Cup odds by clicking here.
